Honda has officially unveiled the Honda 0 α (Alpha) Prototype at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, marking the debut of what will become the brand’s first electric SUV for India. The 0 α will also be the first locally manufactured model under Honda’s all-new 0 Series EV lineup and is slated for an Indian launch by early 2027.
Honda’s First 0 Series EV for India
The Honda 0 α will serve as the “gateway model” in the brand’s new 0 Series, targeting customers seeking a practical yet futuristic electric SUV. This lineup, previewed earlier this year with the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, is built on a dedicated EV platform inspired by Honda’s new design philosophy — “Thin, Light, and Wise.”
Design and Dimensions
The prototype showcases a clean and aerodynamic look with a low, wide stance. The front fascia integrates sleek headlamps, a glowing Honda emblem, and full-width LED DRLs, while the rear gets a U-shaped light bar for a distinctive futuristic identity.
Honda revealed that the 0 α’s wheelbase is 100mm longer than that of the Elevate SUV, taking it to around 2,750mm, with a slightly wider track for improved stability and presence on the road.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Honda 0 α is expected to offer a minimalist yet tech-rich cabin, following Honda’s “Thin” packaging principle to maximize space. The production model will likely feature a flat floor, advanced connected tech, and multiple driver-assistance and safety features.
Launch and India Plans
For India, the Honda 0 α will be manufactured locally, leading the brand’s shift towards electric mobility and effectively replacing the previously planned Elevate EV project. It will come with a front-wheel-drive layout and is expected to compete with upcoming electric SUVs like the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Maruti Suzuki eVitara.
Globally, the 0 α will be followed by the more premium Honda 0 SUV, which will be imported to India as a CBU, while the flagship Honda 0 Saloon will remain exclusive to international markets.
