Mahindra EV Sales Hit 7.5% in 2025, Driven by BE 6 and XEV 9e Momentum

Mahindra’s electric shift is accelerating at a record pace. From January to October 2025, EVs accounted for 7.5 percent of the company’s total sales — a massive jump from just 1 percent during the same period last year, when the XUV400 was Mahindra’s only electric model.

With the launch of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra’s EV portfolio has grown significantly. The EV lineup will get an even bigger boost when the XEV 9S — India’s first born-electric 3-row SUV — debuts on November 27.

This surge puts Mahindra on track to achieve its target of 15–25 percent EV sales share by 2027, aligned with the upcoming CAFE III emission norms.

Mahindra EV Sales – Key Takeaways

  • EV share up from 1% (2024) to 7.5% (2025)
  • 38,464 EVs sold between Jan–Oct 2025
  • BE 6 + XEV 9e alone contributed 7% of total Mahindra sales
  • 3,911 EVs sold in October 2025
  • Mahindra now ranks 3rd in EV retail sales, behind Tata Motors and JSW MG Motor

The rise reflects strong demand for Mahindra’s born-electric SUVs, especially in metro and Tier-2 regions.

BE 6 & XEV 9e: Mahindra’s New EV Powerhouses

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e, built on Mahindra’s electric-first INGLO platform, have quickly become volume drivers.

Mahindra EV Sales: Jan–Oct 2025

ModelSalesShare
BE 6 + XEV 9e36,1047.0%
XUV4002,3600.5%
Total EVs38,4647.5%

This strong performance comes even as Mahindra’s ICE SUVs — Scorpio N, Thar, Bolero, and XUV700 — continue to lead their segments.

Mahindra Ready for CAFE III Regulations

Mahindra met CAFE II norms with just a single EV in its lineup. Now, as the stricter CAFE III norms roll out in April 2027, the company is better positioned with multiple EVs in the pipeline.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO (Automotive & Farm Businesses), confirmed Mahindra’s aim of reaching 15–25 percent EV sales by FY 2027 — a target that aligns with regulatory and market expectations.

The upcoming XEV 9S and future BE series EVs will play a critical role in expanding Mahindra’s electric footprint.

India’s EV Battle Heats Up — Mahindra Strengthens Its Position

With rising EV acceptance, premium tech-loaded SUVs, and faster rollout plans, Mahindra is emerging as a major force in India’s electric SUV space. The momentum created by the BE 6 and XEV 9e is only the beginning — the next wave of EVs is set to push the brand even further.
