Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Crosses 2 Million Unit Production Milestone

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL), the Volkswagen Group’s Indian subsidiary, has crossed a major manufacturing milestone by producing over 2 million locally built vehicles, coinciding with its 25th year in India. The journey began in 2001 with the first locally assembled Skoda Octavia.

Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director of SAVWIPL, said the milestone highlights the group’s long-term commitment to Indian manufacturing, continued technology investments and the trust customers place in its six brands.

SAVWIPL operates two production facilities — Chakan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Over 5 lakh units of the 2 million vehicles manufactured are based on the India 2.0 MQB-A0-IN platform, including the Skoda Kushaq, Kylaq and Slavia, along with the Volkswagen Taigun and Tiguan. Notably, the most recent 5 lakh units were manufactured in just 3.5 years, reflecting improved efficiency and rising demand.

The India 2.0 programme has revitalised both Skoda and Volkswagen in the country. Skoda is on track to achieve record sales in 2025, driven by strong consumer interest in the Kylaq. On the export front, SAVWIPL has shipped over 7 lakh vehicles from India to global markets.
