BMW has officially revealed the Z4 Final Edition, a special farewell variant that commemorates the end of production for the brand’s legendary two-seat roadster. Manufacturing will conclude in March 2026, and global bookings for the Final Edition are set to begin in late January 2026, giving enthusiasts one of their last opportunities to buy the Z4 in its current generation.
Exclusive Exterior: Dark, Aggressive, and Distinctive
The Z4 Final Edition debuts with a dramatic visual overhaul. BMW has finished the roadster in an exclusive Frozen Matte Black paint scheme, paired with Extended Shadowline treatment. Gloss-black accents highlight:
- The kidney grille
- Air intakes
- Window surrounds
- Exhaust outlets
These darker elements give the Z4 a sharper, more aggressive personality, further enhanced by red M Sport brake calipers, which offer a striking contrast against the matte bodywork.

Cabin Enhancements: Sporty, Premium, and Collector-Focused
Inside, BMW has strengthened the Z4’s performance identity with a bold black-and-red theme. The Final Edition features:
- Vernasca leather + Alcantara sport seats
- Red contrast stitching on the dashboard, doors, and centre console
- Alcantara-wrapped M steering wheel with matching stitching
- Final Edition–exclusive door sill plates
These bespoke touches elevate the cabin and reinforce the Z4’s status as a limited-production collector’s edition.
Powertrain: No Mechanical Changes
BMW has chosen not to alter the powertrain lineup for the Final Edition. The model will continue with three global engine options:
- 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (197hp)
- 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (258hp)
- 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-petrol (335hp) — the enthusiast-favourite M40i
All engines are paired with an automatic gearbox, although a 6-speed manual will remain available in select international markets for the M40i.

End of an Era for BMW Roadsters
With no successor confirmed, the Z4 Final Edition marks the conclusion of BMW’s long-running lineage of traditional two-seat convertibles. As global demand shifts toward SUVs and EVs, dedicated roadsters have become increasingly niche—making this Final Edition especially significant for purists and collectors.
India Availability
BMW continues to offer the Z4 in India in two configurations:
- Z4 M40i — ₹87.90 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Z4 Pure Impulse Edition (6-speed manual) — ₹92.60 lakh (ex-showroom)
BMW India has not yet announced whether the Z4 Final Edition will be allocated to the Indian market. Given the limited global production run, availability is expected to be extremely restricted, if it arrives at all.
