To evaluate how the SUV performs outside lab conditions, we tested the Performance AWD variant following CarWale’s standardized real-world range testing protocol.
Test parameters included:
- Air conditioning set at 22°C
- Fan speed maintained at level 3
- Drive mode and regenerative braking at default/standard
Under these realistic conditions, the BYD Sealion 7 achieved a real-world range of 369km, representing 68% accuracy compared to the manufacturer’s claimed 542km.
BYD Sealion 7 Range vs Rivals
Even with a real-world range of 369km, the Sealion 7 holds its ground among competitors in India’s fast-growing EV market. Its performance aligns closely with premium electric SUVs such as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
The difference between the claimed and actual range reflects typical EV behavior, influenced by multiple real-world factors such as driving habits, ambient temperature, terrain, and air-conditioning usage.
