Chinese automaker Chery Automobile continues to expand its footprint in India with another significant move — the Chery Arrizo 8 sedan has been patented in the country. This follows closely after the brand secured a patent for its Tiggo 8 SUV, hinting at Chery’s broader plans to enter the Indian automotive market soon.
Design and Dimensions
The Chery Arrizo 8 showcases a sleek, premium design with a distinctive fastback-like silhouette. Measuring 4.7 metres in length, 1.8 metres in width, and 1.4 metres in height, with a 2.7-metre wheelbase, the sedan stands in the same segment as the Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia.
Engine and Performance
Internationally, the Arrizo 8 is offered with two powertrain options — a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT, producing 200 bhp and 290 Nm, and a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup delivering 351 bhp and 515 Nm combined output. The hybrid version also offers an impressive EV-only range of 105 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
Interior and Features
Inside, the sedan exudes a modern, feature-packed cabin. Highlights include dual-tone upholstery, a 24.6-inch connected screen, powered driver seat, 540-degree panoramic camera view, 50W wireless charger, eight-speaker audio system, and a panoramic sunroof — all aimed at enhancing comfort and luxury.
Outlook
While Chery has yet to confirm an official launch timeline for India, the patent filings of both the Tiggo 8 and Arrizo 8 signal that the brand is preparing to enter the Indian market soon. If launched, the Arrizo 8 could position itself as a stylish, tech-loaded alternative to established mid-size sedans in India.
