Hero MotoCorp to Enter 4W Segment? Vida Nex 3 Concept Teased

Hero MotoCorp has ignited major speculation about its possible entry into the four-wheeler market after unveiling three new Vida concepts—one of which includes a compact electric car. The two-seater Vida Nex 3 stands out with its ultra-compact proportions, seemingly designed for dense urban environments where space and manoeuvrability are critical.

A First Look at the Vida Nex 3

The Vida Nex 3 concept features a futuristic, minimalist design and a thoroughly modern, tech-focused cabin. One of the most interesting elements showcased is the modular centre console, which can be configured with either a rectangular or circular information cluster. This flexible setup hints at customisable UI layouts and adaptable interior design.

Why Compact Urban Cars Are Needed

India’s Tier-1 cities constantly grapple with traffic congestion, limited road width, and overburdened infrastructure. While two-wheelers offer agility, they’re not suitable for all users—especially during extreme weather conditions such as Mumbai’s scorching summers.

Meanwhile, the market is heavily skewed toward large C-segment SUVs, which are not always ideal for short-distance daily commuting. Compact electric cars like the Nex 3 could fill this gap by offering a practical, efficient, and space-conscious mobility solution.

Two-Wheeler Giants Eyeing the 4W Space

With Ola Electric having earlier filed a patent for a compact EV using 4680 cells, Hero MotoCorp’s new Vida concepts indicate a significant shift in strategy. If these prototypes move toward production, they could help establish a new micro-mobility category in India—affordable, compact EVs purpose-built for urban travel.

This move could also push other major two-wheeler brands to explore the small electric car segment, potentially reshaping India’s future mobility landscape.
