The Hyundai Venue diesel continues to maintain a strong foothold in India’s compact SUV segment, accounting for 20 percent of total Venue sales. With the debut of the diesel-automatic powertrain in the new-generation model, Hyundai aims to further strengthen its position among SUV buyers seeking both performance and convenience.
New Hyundai Venue Diesel-Automatic Launched
For the first time in the model’s six-year history, the Hyundai Venue now offers a diesel-automatic transmission. Earlier versions — including the first-generation model and its 2022 facelift — featured the 1.5-litre diesel engine paired only with a manual gearbox. The addition of the automatic option enhances the Venue’s practicality, targeting urban buyers who prefer effortless driving without sacrificing torque and fuel efficiency.
Hyundai Venue Sales Milestone
In September 2025, Hyundai announced that the Venue had surpassed 7 lakh domestic units since its 2019 debut. Out of these, 1.4 lakh units were diesel variants, with petrol and turbo-petrol models contributing the remaining 5.6 lakh units (around 80 percent of total sales). This milestone reinforces the Venue’s reputation as one of India’s top-selling compact SUVs.
Venue vs Rivals
When compared to competitors like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which sees a 70:30 petrol-to-diesel ratio, Hyundai’s Venue maintains a strong diesel presence. With the introduction of diesel-automatic variants such as the HX5 (₹11.58 lakh) and HX10 (₹15.51 lakh), Hyundai anticipates a 10 percent growth in Venue diesel sales in the coming months.
The new diesel-automatic Venue not only widens the SUV’s customer base but also underscores Hyundai’s commitment to offering diverse powertrain options to meet evolving market preferences.
