Mahindra has officially announced that the upcoming XUV700 facelift will be introduced as the Mahindra XUV 7XO, with its global debut and price reveal scheduled for 5 January 2026. The first teaser confirms major styling revisions and also signals that production of the current XUV700 will end once the new 7XO goes on sale.
Fresh Design Details Revealed in the Teaser
The teaser highlights a significantly updated exterior:
Front-End Changes
- New dual-pod LED headlamps
- Inverted L-shaped DRLs
- A redesigned blacked-out grille featuring silver accents
- Sharper, more aggressive bumper elements
Rear Styling Updates
- New LED tail-lights inspired by the XEV 9S
- A sleeker, more modern rear signature
- Revised tailgate surfaces for improved road presence
These updates mark one of the biggest visual changes since the original XUV700’s launch.
More Upgrades Spotted in Spy Images
Recent spy shots have revealed several additional enhancements, including:
- New alloy wheel designs
- Reworked front and rear bumpers
- A triple-screen dashboard layout, similar to Mahindra’s new-gen EVs
- A new two-spoke steering wheel
- Refined cabin materials and improved soft-touch surfaces
The focus appears to be on elevating both the premium feel and the in-cabin tech experience.

Powertrain: No Changes Expected
Despite the redesigned exterior and upgraded interior, the XUV 7XO is likely to continue with the same proven engine options:
- 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol
- 2.2-litre mHawk diesel (multiple tuning options)
Both engines will remain paired with:
- 6-speed manual
- 6-speed automatic
Mahindra is expected to optimise refinement and efficiency but will not alter the core mechanical package.
XUV700 to Be Discontinued
Mahindra has confirmed that once the XUV 7XO is launched, the current XUV700 will be phased out. This aligns with the company’s updated naming strategy, which began with the XUV 3XO earlier this year.
Bookings and Test Drives
Test drives and bookings for the XUV 7XO will begin shortly after the official price announcement on January 5. More feature details, variant breakdowns, and interior highlights are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
