Mahindra is gearing up to launch a facelift of its popular XUV700, the D-segment SUV that has been a milestone in the company’s premium SUV journey. This update is expected to bring major changes to both the exterior and interior, keeping the XUV700 competitive in the D-SUV segment.
XUV700 Facelift Spied in Convoy
Automotive enthusiast Nipunj recently spotted a convoy of four to five XUV700 facelift test mules in Maharashtra. The increasing frequency of test mules suggests that the launch is approaching. The XUV700 facelift is speculated to debut in 2026, while the electric variant, XEV 7e, could arrive as early as November 2025.
All spied units were camouflaged and bore Red registration plates from Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO, Pune, indicating they were diesel-powered models, as suggested by the D571 sticker on the rear windscreen. Dual exhausts were visible on the rear bumper, confirming these were ICE variants.
Exterior Design Updates
The facelifted XUV700 shows a revamped front fascia featuring:
- Redesigned grille
- Twin-barrel projector headlights
- New LED DRL signature
- Radar module for the ADAS suite
Top-spec trims were seen with large alloy wheels, possibly 19-inchers. The side profile remains largely unchanged, while the rear tail lamps may receive a subtle LED signature update along with redesigned bumpers.
Interior Overhaul
The interior of the XUV700 facelift is getting a major transformation, including:
- Triple-screen dashboard layout, similar to the XEV 9e
- New steering wheel with illuminated Mahindra logo
- Harman Kardon sound system, replacing the Sony unit
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) features for rear passengers
- Likely 2nd-row ventilated captain seats in three-row variants
Powertrain and Performance
The facelift will retain the current engine lineup:
- 2.0L Turbo Petrol: up to 197 bhp and 380 Nm
- 2.2L Turbo Diesel: up to 185 bhp and 450 Nm
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic, with AWD available on select trims.
The Mahindra XUV700 facelift promises to refresh the SUV’s appeal with modern styling, premium features, and updated technology, keeping it competitive in India’s D-SUV segment.S
