Maruti Suzuki is preparing for one of its most significant launches in recent years as it enters the electric vehicle market with the debut of the Maruti e Vitara. Set to be unveiled tomorrow, this electric SUV represents an entirely new direction for the company. Although it shares the Vitara name, the model is not related to the Grand Vitara and has instead been developed completely from the ground up as an EV. With anticipation at its peak, the e Vitara arrives with fresh styling, a redesigned cabin, modern technology and a dual battery strategy specially adapted for Indian buyers.
The exterior sets the tone for this new chapter in Maruti’s design philosophy. The e Vitara features a distinctive front end marked by Y shaped daytime running lights and slim headlamps that emphasise its futuristic identity. A bold bumper, sculpted lines and a muscular stance create an impression of toughness, while the flared wheel arches and thick cladding enhance its SUV appeal. The 18 inch dual tone aerodynamic alloy wheels reinforce the EV’s modern character. At the rear, the wraparound LED tail lamps mirror the front lighting signature, giving the SUV a cohesive and unmistakable road presence. The chiselled tailgate and rugged bumper further highlight its adventurous styling.
The cabin marks a complete departure from Maruti’s familiar interiors. The dashboard introduces a fresh layout finished in a dual tone black and tan theme that extends to the seating. The two spoke steering wheel, glossy black panels and semi leatherette upholstery elevate the overall ambience. A dual screen arrangement forms the core of the cabin with a 10.25 inch infotainment touchscreen positioned alongside a 10.1 inch fully digital driver display. This digital heavy layout places the e Vitara well above Maruti’s existing ICE models in terms of cabin sophistication.

Technology features are generous and meet the expectations of modern EV buyers. The dual screen system is complemented by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the Infinity audio system enhances sound quality. Additional comforts include a panoramic glass roof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and a PM2.5 air filter. The overall cabin experience aims to deliver a premium feel while maintaining practicality for everyday use.
Safety has been a key area of focus as well. The e Vitara offers up to seven airbags, along with electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold and a 360 degree camera. The SUV has already secured a four star Euro NCAP rating, confirming its robust crash performance. It also arrives with a full suite of Level 2 ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high beam assist, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot alert. This positions the e Vitara among the most technologically advanced models in its class.
Powertrain options include two battery packs, a 49 kWh version and a 61 kWh version, both powering a single motor in a front wheel drive setup. The smaller battery produces 144 horsepower and delivers a WLTP range of 344 kilometres, while the larger pack generates 174 horsepower with a WLTP range of 426 kilometres. Although an all wheel drive variant exists internationally, Maruti will not offer it at launch in India. Charging times vary depending on the setup. A standard 7 kW home charger takes between six and a half to nine hours to fully charge the battery, while an 11 kW AC charger reduces the waiting time. DC fast charging brings both versions from ten to eighty percent in about forty five minutes.
With an estimated starting price of around seventeen lakh rupees ex showroom, the Maruti e Vitara enters a rapidly expanding electric SUV segment. Its feature rich cabin, contemporary styling, practical range options, flexible charging capabilities and Maruti’s strong reputation for reliability make it a compelling upcoming choice. Once launched, it will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and MG Windsor EV, marking a major step forward for Maruti Suzuki’s electric future.
