Maruti Suzuki India Limited has issued a voluntary recall for 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025. The recall addresses a potential defect in the fuel level indicator and warning light within the SUV’s instrument cluster.
Reason for the Recall
Maruti Suzuki has identified an issue in the speedometer assembly that may cause the fuel gauge to display incorrect fuel levels. This could mislead drivers about the remaining fuel and may result in the vehicle stopping unexpectedly if the tank runs dry.
The company confirmed that no incidents or safety concerns have been reported and that the recall is a preventive measure to uphold quality and customer trust.
Inspection and Replacement
Customers owning affected vehicles will be contacted by Nexa workshops for inspection. If the issue is confirmed, the defective component will be replaced free of cost, regardless of the vehicle’s warranty status.
Owners can also verify recall eligibility by entering their VIN on the Maruti Suzuki website or by contacting their nearest Nexa service centre.

Commitment to Quality
Maruti Suzuki stated that the recall reflects its focus on safety, transparency and long-term customer confidence.
The Grand Vitara is produced at Toyota’s Bidadi facility and retailed through the Nexa network.
Sales and Segment Outlook
The Grand Vitara continues to be a strong performer in the midsize SUV category, supported by its hybrid options, fuel efficiency and after-sales network.
However, the segment is becoming increasingly competitive with upcoming models such as the new Tata Sierra, next-gen Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton and the second-gen Kia Seltos. Maruti’s own Victoris SUV has also emerged as an internal challenger with its updated design and feature set.
