Mini has officially begun accepting bookings for the Cooper Convertible in India, though the reservation amount remains undisclosed. Customers can secure a unit via Mini’s official website or authorised dealerships. Based on the Cooper S hatchback, the Convertible features an electrically operated soft-top roof that can open or close in just 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 30kph.
Exterior Design: Classic Mini Charm Meets Open-Top Freedom
The Cooper Convertible stays true to Mini’s iconic silhouette while adding the unique appeal of open-top driving. Key exterior highlights include:
- Circular LED headlamps with ring-shaped DRLs
- Octagonal grille with body-coloured centre section
- Black horizontal grille slats with signature ‘S’ badging
- 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
- Black lower body and wheel-arch cladding
- Distinctive oblong LED tail-lamps with Union Jack motifs (exclusive to the Convertible)
- Dual-tone rear bumper and centrally positioned Mini emblem
Despite the addition of the soft-top mechanism, the Convertible retains its sporty, compact proportions.

Interior: Modern, Minimalistic, and Feature-Rich
The interior closely mirrors the latest Cooper hatchback, offering:
- A dual-tone, minimalistic cabin with pill-shaped AC vents
- Dashboard crafted from sustainable, customizable materials
- 9.4-inch Android-based OLED touchscreen that also functions as the digital instrument cluster
- Head-up Display (HUD)
Expected comfort and convenience features include:
- Electrically adjustable front seats
- Harman Kardon premium audio
- Automatic climate control
- Wireless phone charging
- Rearview camera
- Ambient lighting
- Cruise control
Powertrain: Shares Its Heart With the Cooper S
The Mini Cooper Convertible is powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine found in the Cooper S hatchback:
- 204hp and 300Nm
- Paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic
- 0–100kph in 6.9 seconds (slightly slower due to reinforced chassis bracing)
This setup offers the perfect blend of lively performance, responsiveness, and the added thrill of roof-down motoring.

Expected Pricing and Rivals
The standard Cooper S starts at ₹43.7 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the additional engineering and convertible hardware, the Cooper Convertible is expected to be priced from around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).
It currently has no direct rivals in India at this price point. The closest alternative—with an electric folding roof—is the fully electric MG Cyberster, priced at ₹75 lakh.
