6 New SUVs Launching in the Next 4 Weeks

India’s SUV market continues its rapid expansion, and the coming four weeks promise even more excitement. A total of six major SUV launches—across both ICE and EV segments—are scheduled to roll out soon. Here’s a complete breakdown of every upcoming model.Tata Sierra (ICE)

The long-awaited all-new Tata Sierra is set to debut on November 25, marking the return of the iconic nameplate. The model will feature both petrol and diesel engine options, with the ICE version arriving first.

Tata has already previewed the production-spec Sierra ICE, which stands out with its bold styling, premium cabin design, and competitive feature list. Built on the ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform, the Sierra ICE promises smart packaging and strong mid-size SUV credentials.

Engine Options

  • Diesel: A detuned version of the Harrier’s 2.0L Multijet engine
  • Petrol:
    • New 1.5L turbocharged direct-injection petrol
    • New 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, derived from the turbo-petrol architecture

These engines should help Tata position the Sierra aggressively—especially important as it takes on its biggest rival, the Hyundai Creta.

Tata Sierra EV

Soon after the ICE version, Tata will launch the Sierra EV, built on the Acti.EV+ platform. It is expected to offer two battery pack options:

  • 55 kWh (shared with the Curvv EV)
  • 65 kWh (shared with the Harrier EV)

The larger battery is expected to deliver a range of 500+ km. The EV version will also distinguish itself visually with a more futuristic and EV-specific design language.

Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S will be unveiled on November 26 at the brand’s “Scream Electric” event in Bengaluru. This will be Mahindra’s first three-row electric SUV, built on the advanced INGLO platform, which also underpins the outgoing BE6 and XEV 9e.

Expected Battery Packs

Likely borrowed from the BE6 and XEV 9e:

  • 59 kWh BYD-sourced
  • 79 kWh BYD-sourced (expected real-world range: 500+ km)

Expected Features

Based on teasers, the XEV 9S will carry over many premium features from the XEV 9e, including:

  • Triple 12.3-inch screen setup
  • Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless charging
  • Ventilated seats
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Powered front seats with memory
  • 1400W Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Remote parking

Maruti Suzuki eVitara

Maruti Suzuki will enter the EV SUV space with the eVitara, launching on December 2. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the eVitara promises sharp styling, a tech-loaded cabin, and competitive range figures. It sits on the Heartect-e platform, co-developed by Toyota and Suzuki.

Battery & Power Options

  • 49 kWh: 144 hp
  • 61 kWh (single motor): 174 hp
  • 61 kWh (dual motor AWD): 184 hp

Both battery packs are sourced from BYD.

Tata Harrier (Petrol) and Tata Safari (Petrol)

Tata’s flagship SUVs—the Harrier and Safari—currently offered only with diesel engines, will finally receive petrol powertrains. Scheduled to launch on December 9, both models will be equipped with:

  • 1.5L direct-injection turbo-petrol engine
  • Expected output: 170 hp / 280 Nm
  • Manual and automatic transmission options

First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, this new petrol engine will not only help Tata price the Harrier and Safari more competitively, but will also attract buyers who prefer smoother, quieter petrol performance.

These six upcoming launches—spanning everything from mainstream EVs to new-generation ICE SUVs—are set to bring even more heat to India’s booming SUV market. Whether your priority is range, technology, comfort, or performance, the next month is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods of the year for SUV buyers.
