Skoda Kylaq Manual delivers 10.68kmpl in city and 14.02kmpl on highway—see how it performs against the ARAI-claimed 19.68kmpl.

Skoda Kylaq Manual Real-World Mileage Tested: City and Highway Results

Fuel efficiency continues to be one of the biggest deciding factors for Indian car buyers, and Skoda’s new Kylaq aims to strike a balance between performance and practicality. With its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and six-speed manual gearbox, Skoda claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.68kmpl. To test how close it gets in daily conditions, we conducted a real-world fuel economy test across both city and highway routes.

Performance and Engine Details

Powering the Skoda Kylaq is a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The setup promises punchy performance while keeping efficiency in check.

City Mileage Test

In heavy urban traffic with frequent stops and idling, the Kylaq covered 80km, consuming 7.49 litres of fuel. That translates to a real-world city mileage of 10.68kmpl, while the trip computer displayed 11.1kmpl. The turbo engine feels responsive at lower speeds, but stop-and-go conditions and constant gear shifts noticeably reduced efficiency.

Highway Mileage Test

Out on the highway, the Kylaq showed its efficient side. Cruising steadily between 85–95kmph, it covered 91km, using 6.49 litres of fuel, returning a real-world mileage of 14.02kmpl (MID indicated 15.1kmpl). With smoother driving and fewer gear changes, the turbo engine operated more efficiently, achieving closer results to its claimed figures.

Overall Results

In combined conditions, the Skoda Kylaq Manual delivered an average mileage of around 12kmpl10.68kmpl in the city and 14.02kmpl on the highway. Though lower than the official 19.68kmpl ARAI claim, these figures are realistic and align with what can be expected from a turbo-petrol SUV in everyday Indian driving conditions.
