Toyota Recalls 11,529 Units of Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced a proactive and voluntary recall for select units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India. A total of 11,529 units, manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025, have been identified for inspection.

The recall has been initiated to examine and potentially replace a faulty Combination Meter (instrument cluster) that may not function correctly in certain vehicles.

Reason for the Recall

The instrument cluster is a crucial component that displays essential information such as:

  • Speed
  • Fuel level
  • Warning indicators
  • System alerts

A malfunction could lead to missing or inaccurate information, which may impact vehicle safety. Although Toyota has reported no incidents, injuries, or complaints linked to the issue, the company has chosen to issue the recall as a precautionary measure.

Earlier this week, Maruti Suzuki also recalled 39,506 units due to faulty fuel gauge and cluster-related components. Since the Hyryder and Grand Vitara share development under the Toyota–Maruti partnership, the issue could stem from a common supplier.

How Toyota Will Manage the Recall

Toyota has confirmed the following actions:

  • Dealership teams will directly contact affected owners.
  • Inspections and part replacements will be carried out free of cost.
  • The process is expected to take minimal time, depending on dealer workload and parts availability.

While owners do not need to stop driving their vehicles, Toyota recommends scheduling an inspection at the earliest.

How Owners Can Check If Their Hyryder Is Affected

Urban Cruiser Hyryder owners can verify their recall status by:

  • Contacting a nearby Toyota dealership
  • Calling Toyota’s Customer Assistance Centre
  • Using the toll-free number: 1800-309-0001
  • Sharing the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for confirmation

A dedicated support team will guide customers through the verification and appointment process.

Units Covered Under This Recall

Only Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUVs produced between:

9 December 2024 – 29 April 2025

are affected. Both hybrid and mild-hybrid variants within this production window may require inspection.
