Volvo is set to expand its electric lineup with the upcoming EX60 EV, scheduled for a global unveiling on January 21, 2026. Positioned as an all-electric version of the popular XC60 SUV, the EX60 will be the third battery electric vehicle (BEV) from the Swedish automaker, following the EX30 and EX90.
Design and Styling
The teaser image showcases the EX60 EV’s sleek, modern design, retaining Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlamps and vertical tail lamps. Compared to the ICE-powered XC60, the new model appears more crossover-like, hinting at the brand’s future EV design direction — smoother lines, aerodynamic elements, and a minimalist aesthetic.
Production and Global Launch
Production of the Volvo EX60 EV will take place at the company’s Torslanda plant near Gothenburg, Sweden, which is already a hub for Volvo’s EV development. The automaker plans to introduce localized assembly in select markets, including India, to make the EV more price-competitive.
India Launch Plans
The EX60 will be part of Volvo’s broader strategy to strengthen its electric vehicle presence in India. However, the company will first introduce its flagship EX90 SUV in 2026 before bringing the EX60 to the Indian market. The EX60 is expected to play a key role in Volvo’s volume growth in the premium mid-size electric SUV segment.
