Yamaha XSR155 Spied Testing in India Ahead of Possible 11 Nov Launch

India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd has had a productive year in 2025. The company updated its main offerings, including MT-15, R15, Fascino, Ray-ZR, FZ, and FZ-X. Yamaha reduced prices by up to Rs 18,000 to pass on the GST 2.0 benefits. While these updates strengthen the portfolio, Yamaha hasn’t launched a new motorcycle since the R3 and MT-03. That will change soon—Yamaha is preparing to launch the XSR 155, with the first spy shots credited to Xtreme Escapes channel now circulating online.

Yamaha XSR155 Spied

Yamaha’s much-awaited XSR155 was recently seen testing on Indian roads, increasing speculation of its upcoming launch. The motorcycle, covered in camouflage, appeared during test runs with a fully geared rider. This gives enthusiasts a strong sign Yamaha will introduce its modern-retro roadster in India.

The XSR155 builds on the R15 V4 platform and shares its foundation with the globally popular entry-level sportbike. It features a neo-retro design, including a round LED headlamp, upright riding stance, teardrop fuel tank, and a flat seat—distinct traits of the XSR family. Despite camouflage, the retro look remains clear, setting the bike apart from Yamaha’s existing sporty models.

Components on the XSR155 include USD telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock, 17-inch alloy wheels, wider tyres (140-section rear, 100-section front), front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, and a circular LCD display. It may skip features like navigation and connected tech.

Yamaha Motor India has sent “Block Your Dates” invites for November 11, 2025, hinting at a new launch. The company has not confirmed the model, but the spy shots suggest the XSR155 could debut soon, possibly alongside the Nmax 155 maxi-scooter, previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

The XSR155 and Nmax 155 are successful in global markets. The XSR155 has become popular among Indian enthusiasts due to its mix of retro style and modern technology. It ranks as one of the most searched Yamaha motorcycles locally.

Key Highlights Expected

Platform: Built on Yamaha R15 V4’s engine and chassis.

Engine: 155cc liquid-cooled motor with VVA, delivering ~18.5 PS power and ~14 Nm torque.

Features: Assist and slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, LED lights, digital display.

Design: Retro roadster styling with upright posture.

With GST reforms now reducing tax on these motorcycles to 18%, the XSR155 could be priced aggressively. It may come in below the Yamaha R15, increasing its accessibility without losing its premium status. The timing of these spy shots suggests Yamaha will target young urban buyers looking for stylish and high-performance options during the festive season.
