2026 BMW iX Production Begins March 2025 with Major Upgrades

BMW is gearing up for the production of its refreshed 2026 iX, set to begin in March 2025, bringing exciting upgrades to its flagship electric SUV. With enhanced performance, extended range, and refined design, the new iX promises a compelling package for EV enthusiasts and premium SUV buyers alike.

The updated lineup features three variants: xDrive45, xDrive60, and the high-performance M70. The standout M70 model packs a remarkable 659 hp, offering thrilling acceleration and a commanding presence on the road. The xDrive60 delivers 536 hp, while the entry-level xDrive45 produces 402 hp, giving buyers a choice that balances efficiency and performance.

Range and charging capabilities see significant improvements. The iX xDrive60 can now travel up to 701 km (around 435 miles) on a single charge, according to WLTP ratings. Fast charging is faster than ever, with the 60 and M70 models capable of up to 195 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions.

The exterior design has been subtly refreshed, with a sharper, more striking grille, updated taillight animations, and new wheel designs enhancing the SUV’s modern appeal. Inside, the cabin receives thoughtful upgrades, including premium upholstery options, M Sport seats, and the signature floating infotainment display, now paired with a crystal-style iDrive controller for an elegant, intuitive experience. An optional electrochromic panoramic sunroof adds a touch of luxury, switching between transparent and opaque at the touch of a button.

Sustainability remains central to the 2026 iX, with greater use of recycled materials and a more efficient heat pump contributing to a greener footprint. With production set to start soon, the refreshed iX combines BMW’s signature performance, luxury, and forward-thinking EV technology into a truly refined package.
