Toyota Hyryder Outsells Innova Twins for the First Time in October 2025

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the iconic Innova in monthly sales for the very first time. In October 2025, the Hyryder registered 11,555 units, its highest-ever monthly sales, marking an extraordinary 201 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth. This narrowly exceeded the combined sales of the Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta, which totaled 11,294 units.

This milestone came during a record-breaking month for Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which dispatched 33,809 SUVs and MPVs—the company’s highest monthly figure ever and a 61 percent YoY increase.

Hyryder Sales Surge in October 2025

  • 201 percent YoY growth
  • Contributed 34 percent of Toyota’s record UV sales
  • Achieved an all-time high of 11,555 units
  • Close to crossing 200,000 cumulative sales

Since its launch in September 2022, the Hyryder has maintained strong demand momentum. It previously hit its best monthly tally of 9,100 units in August 2025. With lifetime sales already exceeding 160,000 units, the Hyryder is now on the verge of reaching the 2,00,000-unit milestone.

Developed in partnership with Maruti Suzuki as the sibling to the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder has become Toyota’s most successful rebadged model. Its standout claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl positions it among the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the midsize segment. Prices range from ₹10.95 lakh to ₹19.57 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Hyryder’s sustained growth highlights India’s rising demand for feature-rich, efficient midsize SUVs, a category where it continues to perform strongly.

Innova Hycross & Crysta: Still Lead Year-to-Date Sales

Although the Hyryder topped the monthly sales chart in October, the Innova duo maintains a comfortable cumulative lead. From April to October 2025:

  • Innova Crysta + Innova Hycross: 64,678 units (up 5% YoY)
  • Toyota Hyryder: 56,754 units (up 57% YoY)
  • Lead: Innova twins are ahead by 7,924 units

The Innova remains a cornerstone product for Toyota, consistently ranking among the best-selling SUVs/MPVs and generating significant revenue for the brand.

Pricing

  • Innova Hycross: ₹18.06 lakh – ₹31.90 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Innova Crysta: ₹19.99 lakh – ₹27.08 lakh (ex-showroom)

Hyryder vs Innova: Different Markets, Different Buyers

Together, the Hyryder and the Innova twins accounted for 67 percent of Toyota’s record festive-season UV sales.

Despite sharing the same showroom, the two nameplates target very different customer segments:

Toyota Hyryder

  • 5-seater midsize SUV
  • Strong-hybrid focus
  • Best suited for urban owners

Toyota Innova Hycross / Crysta

  • 7/8-seater MPVs
  • Prioritise comfort, space, and people-carrying capability

A price gap of over ₹12 lakh between the top hybrid variants further separates the two models, ensuring they do not cannibalise each other and continue serving distinct market segments.
