Honda has announced an ambitious plan to launch 10 new cars in India by 2030, with seven of them being SUVs, reaffirming its strong focus on the growing SUV market. Among the upcoming models is the production-ready Honda 0 Alpha EV, which will be the brand’s first locally manufactured electric vehicle in India.
Honda 0 Alpha EV: The First Made-in-India Electric SUV
The 0 Alpha SUV, first showcased at the Japan Mobility Show, willreplace the Elevate-based EV that was initially planned for 2027. It will be produced in India for both domestic and export markets. Honda also revealed that the batteries for this model will be sourced from Indonesia and assembled locally, aiming to reduce costs and strengthen supply chain independence.

Expanding the Line-up: 10 Cars by 2030
Alongside the 0 Alpha, Honda will introduce the 0 EV SUV as a CBU import, positioned as a premium offering to enhance the brand’s electric vehicle image in India.
Honda’s existing models—City, City e:HEV, Amaze, and Elevate—will also receive facelifts and updates. The Elevate will play a major role in the company’s SUV strategy with an Elevate Hybrid and a sub-compact SUV expected to join the lineup, marking Honda’s return to the sub-4 metre SUV segment after the discontinuation of the WR-V.

New MPV and Premium SUV Incoming
In addition to SUVs, Honda is likely to bring back the BR-V, positioned to rival the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, Toyota Rumion, Kia Carens, and Hyundai’s upcoming MPV. With strong demand for CNG-powered vehicles in the fleet market, the BR-V could become a key player in this space.

At the top end, Honda is expected to reintroduce the CR-V in its latest-generation avatar, priced around ₹40–45 lakh. This premium SUV will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan/Tayron, and entry-level models from luxury German brands. It is expected to offer petrol and hybrid powertrain options.
The Road Ahead
With this extensive 10-model roadmap, including a mix of EVs, hybrids, and updated petrol models, Honda aims to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive automotive landscape while aligning with the country’s shift toward sustainable mobility.
