Yamaha Motor India posted domestic sales of 60,413 units in August 2025, marking a slight 0.30% year-on-year growth from 60,231 units sold in August 2024. On a month-on-month basis, the brand achieved a strong 19.95% increase, rising from 50,365 units in July 2025. Scooter and motorcycle segments showed varied trends, with some models gaining momentum while others faced notable declines.
Yamaha India Sales Breakup Aug 2025
The RayZR, Yamaha’s top-selling scooter, recorded sales of 20,671 units in August 2025, increasing 27.10% year-on-year from 16,264 units the previous year. It also saw a 25.88% month-on-month growth compared to 16,421 units in July. The FZ series followed with 14,323 units, achieving a 16.89% year-on-year rise and a sharp 28.92% month-on-month growth, reflecting steady demand in the commuter motorcycle segment.
The MT-15 sold 10,613 units, showing a modest 6.89% year-on-year increase and a notable 24.65% jump from 8,514 units in July. Meanwhile, the R15 dipped 12.28% year-on-year with 7,529 units sold, down from 8,583 units last year. However, month-on-month, it rebounded with a 13.68% increase over 6,623 units in July. Yamaha is preparing to launch a new motorcycle on November 11, speculated to be the XSR155, recently spotted testing.
Among scooters, the Fascino suffered a sharp 56.43% year-on-year decline with sales dropping to 4,849 units from 11,128 units in August 2024. Month-on-month numbers also fell 11.03% compared to 5,450 units in July, indicating ongoing challenges for this model. By contrast, the Aerox 155 achieved growth on both fronts, selling 2,424 units—up 21.32% year-on-year and 8.26% month-on-month—signaling rising popularity for Yamaha’s sporty maxi-scooter.
The premium R3 / MT-03 category saw just 4 units sold in August 2025, a steep 94.74% year-on-year fall from 76 units and a 50% drop compared to 8 units in July. Overall, Yamaha’s year-on-year sales remained flat, but robust month-on-month growth points to a revival in demand, driven mainly by the RayZR, FZ, and MT-15 models. The Fascino’s decline and weak premium segment performance remain concerns, but the August momentum bodes well for Yamaha as the festive season nears.
GST Rate Cut + Festive Season = Sales Boost Expected
Yamaha expects sales to gain further traction in the coming months, as recent GST rate cuts on two-wheelers improve affordability. Lower effective prices on key models like the RayZR, FZ, MT-15, and R15 should boost demand, especially among younger and first-time buyers. The timing coincides with the festive season, traditionally a peak period for vehicle sales. Together, GST-driven price drops and festive buying trends are likely to drive Yamaha’s volumes higher soon.
